Joseph A. Stevens joins the Perkins Olson team:Portland, Maine Perkins Olson, PA is pleased to announce Joseph A. Stevens has joined their Maine law firm to provide land use and real estate development legal services. Joe has 23 years of land use experience, first as a land planner in Maryland and then 11 years with his own law firm, Stevens, Phillips & McCann, LLC, working on very substantial real estate development and land use matters in Maryland. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Stevens served as Director of the Department of Land Use, Growth Management and Environment for Queen Anne's County, MD. Mr. Stevens has been an adjunct professor, University of Maryland, Department of Urban Studies and Planning and has also been an instructor for the Department of Engineering at the University Of Wisconsin, teaching courses in planning, land use, resource protection and zoning. On several occasions Mr. Stevens has been an instructor for the Maryland Institute for the Continuing Professional Education for Lawyers, lecturing on land use law. Mr. Stevens has also been a guest speaker for the National Association of Home Builders, State & Local Government Affairs Conference. Mr. Stevens has served on a variety of boards and committees including: President, Maryland Association of Counties Planning Officials; President of the Queen Anne's County Bar Association; Executive Committee of the American Planning Association, Maryland Chapter; and is currently a member of the NAHB, LANDS group. Mr. Stevens received a JD from University of Maryland and a MS from Eastern Michigan University and is licensed to practice law in both Maryland and Maine. Mr. Stevens is also the Managing Member of the Bay East Title Company, LLC, a real estate closing and Escrow Company that provides real estate title services to residential, commercial and industrial clients. Mr. Stevens has recently moved, with his family, to Cape Elizabeth, Maine. He is very excited about bringing his extensive knowledge of land use matters to Maine. |
